When it prompts for the authentication code, the number pad covers up the button to submit. There's not any way around this. As a result the app is unusable and useless. Very disappointing for a medical company to not test software like this. Then again, maybe it's intentional so people won't have as much access to use their insurance benefits or fund care in urgent situations. The website doesn't seem to be much better.
The ID card has the wrong number on it. You need your physical card because the number on the ID card in the app doesn’t display the 3 previous alpha characters
I am quite surprised that BCBSIL hasn’t figured out how to make a useable app in 2025. For years now, there are issues simply using the app - logging in or getting it to load. If you can’t even get into the app, what is the point?
It almost never lets you log in, but on the rare occasion it does, nothing loads once you’re logged in. I’ve tried contacting support and they haven’t been able to solve it either.
After creating account you can’t log in even with the verification emails you still can’t log in.
This app is just horrid. Will not recognize updated passwords. Then it forces you to change your password which it then fails to recognize and locks your account. Waste of time.
Update: 5/23/2025 I am happy to be able to log in! It has been a long 6 months with hundreds of claims filed with no app availability, but now I can check info I need on the go again between all the appointments. Original 2024: Can’t log in: 1 star Since the passkey update in fall 2024, I can’t even log into the app, and I spent quite a while trying. Just sticking with my PC to check my account. Until users can login, the app is entirely useless.
How is is possible that they still can’t figure out something as basic as a login? They state we fixed bugs but the burst one over several versions that keep the app from even being functions they can’t fix. Absolutely unbelievable.
Not all app experiences are great, but this BCBSIL mobile app mimics the web site access perfectly. Happy to see pass key with Face ID login. The features of the app are easy to navigate with 1 finger. It’s not too context rich or overwhelming. I expect the experience to keep evolving.
I can't login at all. Gives an error message every time. It's been this way for awhile now, are there any plans to fix this? I've literally been trying to get my insurance cards since March. It is now May. My employer can't help, the BCBS website request doesn't seem to work, and the app is completely broken.
Have new ID for current year, Not able to update new ID number or create a New Account because of previous (old) ID Number.
I can’t long in … worse app ever
Since the latest update, when it goes to log in instead of logging in it goes to forgot password instead of logging in. If you click done it then logs in and takes you to the homescreen
You would think a company with the size and profits of BCBS could hire people to make this app work consistently. Constantly getting error messages. Can’t use Face ID. Can’t log directly into app. App doesn’t remember my device
Useless ap when you have to redo the login every time you go to log in. Set up the Face ID 4 times now, will not use the useless app for a useless insurance company.
After my wife and I figured out how to share the passkey (no password just Face ID unlock), the app was great! Way more user friendly and easier to navigate than the website.

Required to download the app to get a copy of my insurance card for some reason and the app doesn’t even let you log in
I have not been able to log into the app for a Year or more. All log in is the same as the website but I continue to be the same error. “ we can’t access your information right now please try again later or call the customer service line on your card. I have called Blue Cross Blue Shield multiple times and nobody can ever give me an answer. It doesn’t seem like it would be that hard of a technical thing from a software engineering side. Blue Cross blue together!! Super frustrating !!!
Haven’t been able to login for a few months now….
Worked great until it didn’t log in anymore. Can log in fine on a browser with the same credentials, but the app is unusable anymore. 🙄

Can’t login for months now…
I’ve never been able to login to this app as there’s always an error message that pops up stating something went wrong. I go online, sign in, and it works perfectly. I downloaded the app based on the link provided when logging in online. This defeats the purpose of selecting digital only and not being able to access the site.
Struggled for many months unable to use the app. I changed my BCBSIL password on web browser and then logged in to app with NEW password. Works fine now. It even let me set up a passkey finally for face recognition.
Right now this app is useless. It’s been months since I’ve been able to log in to the app. Please fix this issue as it’s easier to access information using the app when you actually at the dr office.
Won’t allow me to login with correct credentials
I have tried for 2 months and I can’t login. Authenticating through a browser is fine so I know it’s not my password. The app just doesn’t work. Calling BCBSIL customer service was no help either.
All this profit but apparently not enough to make a functional user friendly app Edit: for those struggling to log-in, change your password. Even though you might be typing it in correctly, for some reason trying to log in to the app using the old pw doesn’t work.
Has yet to let me access my account! I always have to go to the website. This is a colossal waste of time!
The app is super buggy, full of errors, and is not intuitive whatsoever. The user experience is just awful. The design planning for this app has no logic behind it, it’s lousy. It’s pretty pathetic for arguably the largest insurance provider in the world to have a mobile experience this bad. BCBS I really hope you are in the midst of fixing this. Because I cannot even use it. I am forced to have to call anytime I need something. I miss having Aetna for the how good their member experience was.
I am unable to go in using an iPhone and it looks like others are have the same issue. Please fix this.
Doesn’t work
This has been a recurring login message for years through multiple updates. What an absolute joke. They probably can’t pay for a proper app because the CEO has to get that fat bonus every year.

I wish this would be fixed soon! Every time I try to login to my account on the app it says there’s a problem and I have to call customer service. Instead, I have to login on the main website. This is not helpful or convenient for patients!
Talked with customer support and they said the login issue was going to be fixed the night I called. I can login on a browser fine but not the app. This is ridiculous and I wish I could do less than 1 star as the app is not functional at all.
This app has never worked. It just takes you to sign in on the website then tells you there’s an error signing in. Confirmation it’s not an issue with username and password because I just sign right in on the website. It’s a waste of space on your phone.

After talking with BCBSIL customer support about the issue, they’ve made a ticket to the IT team to look into the problem. I wish they would fix this as it impedes being able to use the app especially if you have a digital only card.
same issue as other users pointed out. cannot login and directed to phone line that nobody answers. trash app, trash healthcare company, impossible to get ahold of these people. No accountability at all, thankful for those that work to hold these people accountable.

Can never log in without it giving a error
Total fail. I can’t get logged in anymore. Why did they take the Face ID away? Every time I try to login I have to change my password. Then after I do, it won’t take the new one and a message pops up that my login is frozen for too many attempts. Give us back the Face ID login feature!
Haven’t been able to log in using face ID since the update. had to go to the web to log in. After I logged in I tried to add a passkey to make future login easier, but I always got network error. already deleted all browser cache. this app is trash.
The app fails to permit logins. Please fix, it’s been months now with NO ACCESS. There was an update released today 03/06/2025 and issue still not resolved.
